WHAT IS GDPR?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or EU Regulation 2016/679 will come into force in the UK from May 25th 2018. The GDPR is a replacement for the UK’s 1984 Data Protection Act and is intended to significantly strengthen an individual’s rights over their personal data.

At The Home Management Company we have always placed great emphasis on Privacy and our commitment has not changed. Our Privacy Policy gives details of how we collect, use and share personal information and how we protect the personal information entrusted to us. It will explain an individual’s rights under GDPR and how to contact us about a data protection issue. We do not use ‘cookies’ or share or sell information to 3rd party organisations. Any information collected is used only for the purpose intended in providing and improving our Letting and Managing Service to both Landlords and Tenants alike.

As a Residential Letting and Management Company, including Block Management, we require a range of personal information to carry out the service for which we are instructed. This information is stored both on computer and in most instances with a paper backup. The computers in our office are protected with passwords and by various software systems which are constantly monitored. It may be necessary to share information with Referencing Companies, Utility Companies, Landlords, Tenants, Contractors, Insurance Companies, Block Management Companies, Tenancy Deposit Schemes, Solicitors and not forgetting HMRC in order for us to fulfil our obligations to you for the service we provide.

You have a right at all times to request a copy of the personal information we hold about you and to request us to amend or update any inaccuracies. Information will only be held for as long as is necessary and in most cases this will be for a period of 6 years. However, if we collect information which does not lead to a contract being signed in respect of either a Landlord Instruction to Let and Manage his/her property or a Tenant or Tenants who choose not to enter into a Letting Agreement, any personal information will be removed immediately from our systems and no further contact will be made unless specifically requested.

This Privacy statement is to confirm our commitment to respecting all personal information provided to us and our sincere attempt to comply with all aspects of the new GDPR legislation.
